Circular economy
The circular economy is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, lending, reusing, repairing, ricondizionamento e riciclo dei materiali il più a lungo possibile.
In this way it’s possible to extend the life cycle of products, helping to reduce waste to a minimum. Once the product has finished its function, the materials it is made of are in fact reintroduced, when possible with recycling. Thus they can be continuously reused within the production cycle, generating further value.
The use of renewable raw materials or recycled products in the production of polyurethane is not only a requirement to prevent pollution and promote environmental protection, but it is also a requirement for reducing production costs and improving the use of materials according to the principle of the circular economy.
The recycling process developed by Green Polyols allows considerable savings in terms of the price of the polyol raw material and obviously the elimination of disposal costs.
The reuse of polyurethane also translates into a significant reduction in CO2 emissions deriving from the fossil raw material saved and from the lack of disposal processes (landfill or incineration).
This important reduction in emissions responds to the obligations required by the EU on the recycling and reuse of plastic materials in accordance with the Green Deal with which the EU has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and to achieving neutrality climate change by 2050.
In particular, with the Green Polyols plant, the reduction in environmental impact is estimated at 850t of CO2 equivalent.
