GREEN POLYOLS
Research & Development
The world of bedding represents only a small percentage of the global production of polyurethanes.
For this reason, also in light of the encouraging results obtained in the field of flexible polyurethanes, Green Polyols is trying to broaden its range of action to rigid polyurethane foams and those used in the automotive sector
Rigid polyurethane foams
Rigid expanded polyurethane is a thermosetting cross-linked polymer that is produced by the reaction of two main components (polyols and polyisocyanates), in the presence of a blowing agent and other additives.
These materials have high stability, water resistance, low thermal conductivity and insulating properties. Polyurethane is a versatile polymer that allows to obtain a wide range of products with insulating properties and for different applications.
However, the insulating performance of these new closed-cell materials progressively decreases over time following the leakage of the blowing agent outside the material, caused by diffusion phenomena. Therefore, after few years they should be replaced and disposed of.
Automotive
Polyurethanes, in the automotive industry, are widely used for the production of multiple components, due to the versatility of the different types of polyurethanes: integral polyurethane, flexible expanded polyurethane, semi-rigid polyurethane and rigid polyurethane.
The different characteristics of polyurethanes contribute to make means of transport safer, more environmentally friendly, comfortable and less noisy.
